NCAA Football Betting Tactics

21317744506_football.jpgFootball is known as the most fascinating sport throughout the world. It’s so popular that betting has sneaked into NCAA football. During the football season, the betting process is fast and furious with more and more bettors participating in it in the hope of gaining financial profit. A sharp bettor who knows money management is able to make good profits. Initially, a bettor must start to gulp in the football odds or point spreads or lines. A line or point spread is a number taken as the head start in points to begin with the betting action. After having this knowledge, you can interpret the working of the books and the way they set their numbers. The books sets these football lines in accordance with the public, as the bookie’s primary motive is to gain from his customers. These numbers differ at each book.

For a new bettor, it may be unclear as to how one should proceed but bets really come down to two types- parlay bets and straight bets. It is briefly explained below:

Football Straight Bets:

Straight bets refer to the betting on only one football game. Straight football bets are of two types- “side” and “total”. When you choose side, you want to ‘select a side’ in the game. Let’s say, Jets are playing The Citadel. So, in this case you have to choose and bet on either Jets or The Citadel. This means betting on side.

On the other hand, there is point add up which is number of points scored within both teams. If you ‘select a total’ to bet on, then under this you need to bet lesser or more than the total.

Football Parlay Bets:

Under Parlay bets, you can bet on more than one game. Take an example; say that you bet on Jets on your ticket and under the total. This turns out to be a more than one team parlay. In this case it is two. There is no intermediate result in here. It is either complete success or failure. Great amount of items on your ticket, greater the risk there will be. But you’ll win good amount if all the items on your ticket hits.
No doubt that sports betting is exciting and impressive but one needs to be cautious while dealing with such issues. Hence, there are some basic tips, advice and points to be noted:

Research:

Before betting on any game/team you should do your research. This will provide a solution to your queries. Numerous numbers of sites aid you with the latest football point spread. Different books have different odds.

Be updated:
You must remain updated about what’s happening around, must read the news. For instance, read the latest academic ineligibles so that you should have the adequate information before you decide on betting.
Emotions:

They play a significant role in the betting process. You should avoid being affected by these (emotions). They can make you wager money on an odd and influence you in taking the wrong decision resulting in failure of bet.

Avoid Exotic Bets:

You can find football parlay bets of more than one team, like, six team parlay. There is a high risk involved in such kind of exotic bets of say on your ticket of $150 you might win $15,000 but also loose the same amount. This wouldn’t be one of your clever bets.

To become a successful sports bettor, one should consider these important factors before entering into these wager process. The main motto can be accomplished by being patient & steadiness as it surely pays off in the long run.

1968 season in NCAA Football

11317744593_usc15.jpgThe 1968 season in NCAA Football was a season of change. In previous seasons the bowl games were not used as a “playoff” game necessarily. The final polls would be released before the bowls were played. This meant that the best teams in the league would not necessarily play each other in bowl games to better determine who should be national champions. While there was not a true “playoff” game to determine the national championship, the AP poll was not released until the bowl games were played in this season.

There was also a difference in the way the polls worked. For several years the polls only included the top 10 teams in the nation. This season they would go back to ranking the top 20 teams in the nation as they had in the 1950s.

The favorites coming into the season would be the Purdue Boilermakers. They were followed by the USC Trojans, the champions of the previous season. The third ranked team would be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns would take the 4th and 5th spots in the preseason poll.

The first week already featured some moves as Notre Dame beat down Oklahoma. This impressive victory allowed them to move to number 2 in the nation just before playing Purdue. This meant that as early as week two the top two teams in the nation would play. The Boilermakers proved to be the far superior team in the matchup. They dominated on both sides of the ball and won the game 37-22. USC continued to win as well and moved back to the number 2 spot.

A few weeks later Purdue would square off against number 4 Ohio State. The Buckeyes were too strong on the defensive end and managed to shutout Purdue in a 13-0 effort. USC edged out Stanford and managed to move into the number 1 spot.

USC and Ohio State would go on to win week after week. These teams were clearly the two favorite teams in the nation. After sitting in 2nd place for 7 weeks the Buckeyes passed USC with an impressive victory over number 4 Michigan.

USC tied Notre Dame in the following week, solidifying Ohio State as the top team in the nation.

USC and Ohio State would square off against each other in the Rose Bowl to likely determine which team would finish as they were the top two teams in the nation. The Buckeyes came out strong and managed to finish atop the nation with a 27-16 victory over USC. The Buckeyes would be voted the AP National Champions.

While USC did not win the national championship, they did have another honor come to their team. OJ Simpson was named the Heisman Trophy Winner for USC. This is the award that is given to the best player in the nation.

After the bowl games were played Penn State was voted the second best team in the nation, Texas third, USC 4th and Notre Dame 5th.

Why I Love NCAA Football – Sports

01317744593_092405usc2lg9bq.jpgIf you love college ball as much as I do, then I know you’re going to want to have all the latest gear from your favorite schools. So I recommend that you try shopping online for your official NCAA football products. With the money you save, you might even be able to attend a couple more games this season!

In addition to apparel, there are many other official NCAA football products that I can buy. For example, I like to collect sports memorabilia, and mini helmets are one of the hottest items in that area right now. Because they’re so popular, it can be hard to get your hands on one from your favorite school — if you insist on shopping at malls, that is.

I’ve never had any problems finding official NCAA football collectibles, including mini helmets, from even the most sought-after teams such as USC, Texas, and Notre Dame. Other popular collectibles include bobblehead figures of star players, mini footballs, and retro jerseys.

Along with convenience, there’s another very important reason that I choose to buy official NCAA football merchandise online: low prices. Regular stores with expensive leases and lots of employees just can’t offer the same discounted prices that online retailers can.

That means I can buy official NCAA football products whenever the mood strikes. I don’t have to wait for sales or save up my money for weeks and weeks to be able to afford what I want.

Most of my friends think the NFL is the best game in town, but I disagree. I’d take college ball over the pros any day because I prefer to watch athletes giving their maximum effort for school pride and love of the game rather than big-money contracts and shoe endorsements.

That’s why I make sure I support my favorite college teams by purchasing as much official NCAA football merchandise as I can and by attending as many games as possible.

As luck would have it, my favorite college teams are spread out all over the country. I like a couple of SEC teams, several Big 10 teams, and a few in the Pac-10. I obviously can’t go to all those different campuses whenever I want to buy fan apparel, so I shop for my official NCAA football gear online.

There are many sporting goods websites out there that are really involved in the college scene and offer a wide selection of products to choose from.

I definitely can’t get this kind of convenience at the local mall! So no matter what kind of official NCAA football items I need, I know I can get them all from a single website.

For example, I can purchase an authentic UCLA jersey, Wisconsin Badgers hoody, LSU jacket, and Florida State hat in one order from one website, and I can do all of this without even getting out of my chair. I can’t think of an easier way to buy official NCAA football apparel than that!
